Parents

You are your child’s first teacher. Simple, everyday routines are great opportunities for you to develop your child’s reading skills. We have heard from parents that you want to help your child, but need help getting started. Story Mentors makes it easy for you by providing books to read with your child and a simple guide for you.

Once you choose the book you and your child want to read, click on the parent guide that goes with it. We think you’re going to love reading the book, watching the videos, and doing activities together.

How It Works

Click on a book (and the guide that goes with it) to read it online or print it. There’s no trick here! Just have fun reading together and talking about the book’s topic. We‘ve shared some ways to talk about the book.

As you read the book with your child, you both may be curious to know more. This is a great time to click on the video links that go with the book. You can also visit your local library to check out some of the book suggestions in the guide.

You’ll always find two activities in each parent guide: Brain Booster, which helps your child think more about the topic in a hands-on way, and Just For Fun, which uses things you already have around the house.

Sharing books together is one of the best ways to help your child become a
strong reader.

We know you and your child will be laughing together and looking forward to what you’ll read next!
